The Repak Best Practice Award is presented to the member company with the best overall waste management and packaging improvement systems. In 2008 Evode have had major success reducing packaging waste and preventing 40 tonnes of packaging going onto the market. Implementing re-use systems, whereby replacing 200kg drums with IBC reuse containers. Over a 100 tonnes of internal waste was recycled in 2008, an increase of 27% on 2007. Redesign of packaging to remove steel handles for tubs to make product easier for recovery/recycling. Evode has also achieved excellent results in reducing electricity and gas usage by 25% and reducing the amount of water consumed on-site by 28%.
Through a series of novel and clever initiatives volunteered by the Irish staff, Evode has been able to improve their environmental management performance and are passing this expertise on to other companies within the Bostik group.
